Destination… Athens for the Parthenon Sculptures

Passengers and airport visitors are invited to express their opinion!

As of today, passengers and airport visitors are invited to “vote” on the return of the Parthenon Sculptures to Greece!

By using a new interactive application installed in 4 special terminal screens (3 in the Departures’ Level and 1 in the Arrivals’ Level), passengers, after completing in just 2 moves a very simple puzzle “assembling” the Parthenon’s West Metope and placing the Sixth Caryatis back to its original place, will be able to interactively express their opinion on the return of the Parthenon sculptures to Greece.

“By inviting passengers and airport visitors to “vote” on the return of the Parthenon Sculptures to Greece, we contribute to our country’s national campaign. We think that the Athens International Airport, being a crossroads of civilizations, is an ideal location for the visitors of Athens to express their opinion on this global cultural heritage issue”, said Ioanna Papadopoulou, AIA’s Director of Marketing & Communications. “This initiative follows a series of targeted actions and programmes we have undertaken for Athens, which has already demonstrated a very dynamic recovery as a tourist destination”.
