Information Technology & Telecommunication Business Unit (IT&T ΒU) in cooperation with other business units of Athens International Airport (AIA) and ICT integrators, was distinguished with 3 awards at the ΔΕΗ BITE Awards 2023.

The first distinction which is a GOLD award in the category of “5G Applications" , referring particularly to the nomination of the PoC of "Smart Glasses", in collaboration with “COSMOTE” company. 

IT&T BU, in collaboration with Space Hellas S.A., was also honoured with a GOLD award in the category “Continuous Business Improvement" for the nomination of a "New Energy platform (EIS)". 

Finally, in collaboration with Baggage Handling Services (BHS), Technical Services (TES) and  Vehicle Administration & Management (VAM) departments, AIA’s IT&T BU was awarded with a SILVER award in the category of “Digital Transformation of Customer Experience” for the nomination of  "Enterprise Asset Management (EAM)" platform. 

Athens International Airport was among eleven Greek companies with a distinct footprint in the fields of innovation and technology that were awarded in the framework of the Beyond Innovation Awards by the Economist.
Utilizing innovative digital solutions and modern tools to understand the real needs of passengers, it creates digital services for the optimal experience of its travelers.

The Information Systems & Telecommunications Business Unit (IT&T BU) in collaboration with Cyber Noesis – Cyber Security Service Provider and the support of all departments of Athens International Airport, was awarded with a BRONZE award in the category: Aviation, for the nomination "Phishing as a Service: Fly Fearless edition" at the "Cyber Security Awards 2023".This award proposes new procedures that are supposed to be followed by the employees of Athens International Airport (AIA) in order to protect the company's cyber security.

The Information Technology & Telecommunications Business Unit (IT&T BU) in collaboration with the Aviation Business Unit (ABU), the Terminal Services (TRS) and with the support of all the departments of Athens International Airport, were awarded a BRONZE award in the category "Transportation & Logistics” at the "Impact Bite Awards 2022” ceremony, regarding the new operational platform called the Airport Management System (AMS), which supports all of the AIA's airport activities.

The new AMS platform regarding the operational management of the AIA Database (AODB) was implemented with the cooperation of the SITA company, which is a globally recognized provider of communication and IT services in the aviation sector.

In addition to the substantial and necessary technology upgrade at all levels (e.g. Systems, Application , Database, Operating System), the AMS project contributes to the Airport's Digital Transformation roadmap, whose main elements are the simplifications of functions, the strengthening of collaboration in the exchange of data and the effective management of processes and resources, thus accelerating the development of the next generation of airport services to the entire Airport Community as well as passengers.

The IT & Telecommunications Systems Business Unit (IT&T ΒU) of the Athens International Airport (IAA) won the silver award in the "Innovative sectoral trials/applications" category at the "Mobile Excellence Awards 2022" award ceremony entitled "The first 5G Campus Network in Greece by COSMOTE for Athens International Airport".

Two Gold Awards for the implementation of the first 5G Campus Network in Greece and a Bronze Award for Chatbot Service / Covid-19 Virtual Assistant “Philos”, were presented to AIA during the 2021 Impact Bite Awards ceremony held on September 27th, 2021 at Markou Wine Museum.

Three awards and a Platinum distinction in two categories, was AIA's gain at the Cloud Computing Awards 2021. The first award was in the Project Management Productivity category regarding IT&T's AIA project management through Microsoft Project online platform. At the same time, the design and implementation of a hybrid cloud computing at AIA won the first prize on Hybrid Cloud & Transport Logistics category.

The bronze award in the category "Digital Transformation of Business Processes" was awarded to the Business Unit of Information Systems & Telecommunications (IT&T) in collaboration with the Facilities Services (FAS) at the "Impact BITE Awards 2020" award ceremony. The prize was awarded for the project of MTB critical WCs visitors' counting system. 

Also, in the same category the Business Unit of Information Systems & Telecommunications of AIA won the gold award for the POC of Biometrics Boarding process (Smart Path Solution). 

The Gold Award in the category "New Technological Works in Applications / Services - Robotics" was presented to AIA’s IT&T Business Unit in the "Impact BITE Awards 2019" ceremony, held on the 28th of May.

At this year's Impact Bite Awards ceremony, held on June 13, 2018, Athens International Airport's IT&T Business Unit (IT&T) won the gold award in the category "TRANSPORTATION" - Installation of Automated Passport Control Gates.

Another important distinction, the "Merit Winners", for Athens International Airport under the WITSA Global Excellence Awards 2017, in the category of Digital Opportunity. Nomination of the airport regarded the implementation of the "Internet of (Noise)" application in cooperation with startup company ExMachina.

The WITSA Global Excellence Awards are granted to companies that excel in the IT and communications industry worldwide. The award ceremony took place at the World Congress of Informatics 2017 on September 12, 2017, in Taipei of Taiwan.

At this year's Impact Bite Awards ceremony, held on Thursday, June 29, 2017, Athens International Airport's IT & T Business Unit (IT & T) won 2 gold awards.

Specifically we received:

• Gold Award in the category “BUSINESS CONTINUITY”, with the initiative of Emergency Notification of Tactical.
• Gold Award in the category “ΣΥΝΔΕΣΗ ΕΠΙΧΕΙΡΗΜΑΤΙΚΟΤΗΤΑΣ & ICT STRATEGY” with the initiative of Environmental Measurements via IoT of Weather Ex Machina.

Τhe “Corporate Affairs Excellence Awards 2016” which highlight innovation, were organized on Wednesday, 22nd of March, at Aigli Zappeiou. In this year's awards ceremony, the Information Technology & Telecommunications Business Unit (IT&T) of Athens International Airport (AIA), was awarded for its «ATH Messenger bot via facebook messenger» with excellence award in the category of Best Use of Social Media along with a special award in the category of Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s).

AIA won the gold prize in the award giving ceremony of the Lighthouse e-volution awards 2017, on Friday 9 December at the Athens Concert Hall, for its “ATH Messenger”, world innovative service.

During the Digi.travel Europe - Middle East - Africa Conference & Expo, organized on 22/11/2016 for the 4th consecutive year in Athens, AIA was awarded for its innovative service “ATH messenger”, as a recognition of its impact on the travel & tourism industry, as well as a company adopting technological innovations at a very early stage (early adopter)

On Sept 29th, Athens International Airport was awarded in the innovative applications category of the “Mobile Excellence Awards 2016” for the successful application “ATH Airport”. ATH Airport is the official free application of Athens International Airport for mobile devices, offering everything you want to know about our Airport whether you are travelling, visiting or accompanying friends or family!

The Gold prize in the "Business Intelligence and Analytics” area was awarded to AIA during the «Business IT Excellence Awards 2016» awards. The Airport’s integrated Management Information System provides multiple benefits including the support of timely, reliable and efficient decision-making. At the same time, it supports the strategic development and route planning of third parties, such as the airlines, based on the exclusive data relating to the Airport’s movements, thus, strengthening the role of the Airport Company as a strategic air transport development organisation in our country. Moreover, it enables the provision of commercial and other information to passengers, enhancing their travelling experiencing, and boosting the on-airport businesses as part of the “Airport – City” development model of AIA.

In the 2016 B.IT.E Awards which highlight and reward innovation, Athens International Airport won the silver award in the Transportation category for the development of an integrated Automatic Vehicle Locations system. The Information Technology & Telecommunications Business Unit (IT&T) implemented a telematics platform to monitor the movements of vehicles both in the air-side and the land-side areas of Athens International Airport. The integration of a fleet management system enables the real-time monitoring of all important information, facilitating the planning, control and coordination of activities at the airport’s maneuvering area, as well as the optimization of resources. At the same time, the system enabled the implementation of “Smart Bus” services, providing the bus arriving time and other information at the bus stops.

In the 2015 Lighthouse e-volution awards ceremony, held on December the 2nd 2015, AIA's IT&T Business Unit was awarded the bronze prize in the Digital Strategy (e-Strategy) for the "ATH Messenger of Athens International Airport - Your journey ''passes'' from the Facebook inbox” service. AIA became the first and only airport worldwide offering flight information to Facebook users through the «ATH Messenger» service.

In July 2015, among the presence of all IT/communications industry together with representatives of the academic community, AIA IT&T Business Unit won the gold award, in the Business IT Excellence (BITE) Awards 2015 Ceremony, for its innovative implementation of electronic voting solution for the "Return of the Parthenon Marbles” in the category Innovation / Creativity / Inventiveness, under the section Connection (Integration) IT with Business Strategy.

In the “Cyta Mobile Excellence Awards” in June 2015, AIA’s IT&T Business Unit was honored with the silver award in the category "Innovative Mobile Application / Service" for the corporate program «i-mind». This program transforms AIA employees on to “passengers”, enabling them to record the level of services and infrastructure and review the entire airport experience, as perceived daily by thousands of passengers and visitors.

A new distinction for the web page of the Athens International Airport: The new www.aia.gr was awarded for innovation, easy navigation and creative interactivity with the “Golden Ermis” in the “Digital – Travel” category.

AIA’s web page received another important distinction, the top “Merit” in the framework of EBGE 2014, the Greek Graphic Design and Illustration Awards, in the category webpages / information.

  AIA’s innovative B2B Blog, a “portal-lounge” for the daily communication and the provision of information towards its airline partners, received the top distinction in the category “Business to Business”, in the framework of the “Webit” Congress.

Excellent evaluation of Athens International Airport’s website (www.aia.gr) and a pair of “Webbies” awards, in the framework of Flightglobal.com’s “Webbies – Aviation Web Awards 2008”. Athens International Airport’s www.aia.gr was awarded with the bronze award in the “Best Airport Website” category and the silver award in the category “Best Online Innovation”, for offering airlines personalized customer communication through the innovative e-tools “Infogate” and “Autopilot”, blending market intelligence with e-communication.

Athens International Airport has been honoured with the “Recognised for Excellence” Award of the European Foundation for Quality Management (E.F.Q.M.), acknowledging the level of business excellence and the quality of services of the Airport’s Information Technology & Telecommunications Department.

Athens International Airport "Eleftherios Venizelos" was the first European airport to receive the "Commitment to Business Excellence" award by the European Foundation for Quality Management (E.F.Q.M.). This foundation, endorsed by the European Commission, aims to the advancement of Quality Management on behalf of European enterprises.
By this distinction, AIA's Information Technology and Telecommunications department was certified for the Company's commitment to business excellence as well as to the development - implementation of Quality Management methods towards the optimization of services for the airport's commercial customers and passengers.
