cargo handlers and the local cargo community led to the development of the Cargo Key Performance Index (C-KPI). The C-KPI is a single index composed of the MSDS as well as the handlers‟ performance in the following fields: operations, housekeeping & access monitoring, safety management, environmental management and business development & synergies. Furthermore, the feedback of third parties (airlines and forwarders) is sought. The C-KPI results and the methods for further operational improvements are discussed in detail. C-KPI is an objective tool in the overall measurement of cargo handling performance and its trend over time. This overall approach to cargo quality ensures continuous contact with the cargo handlers and operational efficiency and sets the basis for further growth.  Simplifying Customs procedures The cargo community regards the continuous simplification of Customs clearance procedures as a very important endeavor. In addition, the “hard on the issue, soft on the people‟” approach has significantly strengthened the bonding of the various cargo community members with Customs. The main achievements in this area include:  The appointment of a joint Customs consultant in July 2008  The drafting of a cargo community open issues list that included initially sixteen (16) major issues  The conclusion of the initial list by early 2012  The on-time and proper information and implementation of the next stages of the customs electronic system (ICISnet) in both import and export b) Generating new business AIA's focuses in developing and expanding to new markets, as well as increasing frequencies on existing routes and developing incentive strategies to support new and existing customers. Local (origin-destination) cargo AIA places a strong emphasis in preserving and further developing existing traffic. Therefore, in order to minimizeeventual losses to alternative means of transport (e.g. sea transport to the Greek islands and/or road transport to the Balkans and central/western Europe), AIA focuses on fully exploiting the Greek origin destination market. Transit cargo In addition, AIA channels its activities towards creating new mainly transit flows through the airport via the development of multimodal traffic, i.e. combined sea-air and air-road traffic (road feeder services - RFS). page 8
