Athens International Airport took part in the “Blue Athens Initiative” that was held on the occasion of the International Democracy Day of the United Nations, which is celebrated every year on September 15th. As of the night of September 14th through 06:00 September 16th, Athens airport’s terminal building was among the Athens buildings that were symbolically lit in blue – the colour of the Greek Flag and of the United Nations.
