Welcome to Athens International Airport

Athens International Airport

Athens International Airport SA (AIA) is responsible for the successful management, operation, and development of the Athens Airport. It is a thriving aviation hub that plays a pivotal role in Greece's economy and contributes significantly to the country's development. Its commitment to innovation, sustainability, and customer satisfaction, positions Athens International Airport “Eleftherios Venizelos” as a leading airport operator in Europe and beyond.

As the country's main gateway to the world, in 2025 AIA connected millions of travellers from 164 destinations in 55 countries, on 70 airlines, handling 34.0 million passengers, which accounts for approximately 40% of Greece’s the overall Greek aviation traffic in 2025.

Key contributors to this positive outlook remain AIA’s renowned Route development and airline marketing strategy, with one of the most comprehensive and innovative airline incentive schemes internationally and a strategic focus on the promotion of “Destination Athens” through initiatives and synergies. Having been repeatedly awarded as the Best Airport in Europe by the Airports Council International for its high level of services provided and passenger satisfaction, the Athens International Airport continues into 2026 to implement its programme for aesthetic, functional, and operational upgrades within the airport premises.

Since 2016, AIA is the 1st Carbon Neutral Airport in Greece and, as of 2025, AIA has completed the suite of energy projects comprising the ROUTE 2025 initiative, establishing the equipment and infrastructure required to achieve Net Zero Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions, 25 years ahead of the target of 2050 set by ACI Europe.

Thanks to its top-notch services, AIA has earned more than 120 significant international distinctions and awards. The airport community, with more than 400 companies and 18,900 employees, constitutes one of the biggest “employment engines” in Greece, generating growth, jobs and value.
