Airport Marketing in a … Novel Ermis Awards for Athens International Airport

Athens International Airport was honoured with two Ermis Awards for

“Lost & Found. An Aθenian story”.

An actual mystery novel titled "Lost & Found", a book especially written for the airport, was the creative and innovative way selected by the Athens International Airport to send its key messages to the airlines in 2016.

During the annual Ermis Awards, the top institution established by EDEE (Hellenic Association of Advertising-Communication Agencies) to reward creativity in Marketing and Communications in Greece, the novelty of the Athens airport B2B campaign under the title "Aviation marketing delivered in a novel way", was honoured with

•    Gold Award for “Branded Entertainment & Content” in the category Use or Integration of Printed Content
•    Silver Award for “Direct” in the category Direct Marketing / Business to Business

The campaign "Aviation marketing delivered in a novel way" was created in cooperation with advertising agency J. Walter Thompson Athens.

On the occasion of the double awards for Lost & Found and AIA’s campaign, Ioanna Papadopoulou, Director, Marketing and Communications of Athens International Airport, commented:

“For 2016, we selected the art of narration. Our messaging to our airline partners was “carried” through the pages of a book. Our campaign’s double distinction with the Gold and Silver Ermis awards, honours our choice for novelty, innovation and creativity, in the field of airport marketing.

Our novel, “Lost & Found. An Aθenian story”, expresses the airport’s ongoing aim to consistently support our airline partners in the Athens market, and to enhance the attractiveness of our destination.

"Lost & Found" was presented in international aviation conferences, where we were delighted to see our novel marketing approach acknowledged and awarded by the airline community. The double Ermis distinctions reflect once more the recognition of our efforts to position innovation as a strategic corporate target and express our way of thinking that produces innovative ideas integrating, at the same time, in the most creative way, the traditional marketing and communications tools.”
