Easter passenger traffic up by +13%
Athens International Airport posted a significant +13% increase in its passenger traffic during the Orthodox Easter period (22.04.05-08.05.05) compared to the corresponding period last year. During the above period, a total of 772,292 passengers travelled through "Eleftherios Venizelos" Airport on scheduled, extra and charter flights.
Analytically, domestic traffic grew by +6% increase (265,715 passengers), whereas international traffic marked an impressive increase of +17% (506,577 passengers).
Charter traffic, with 39.222 passengers, experienced a significant increase of +79%.
The +13% increase in AIA's Easter passenger traffic is especially noteworthy, since this year the Catholic and Orthodox Easter did not coincide, as they did in 2004.
In May, Athens International Airport continues to experience a significant increase in its passenger traffic, driven by the remarkable increase in the international sector.
