Presentation of the book "Eleftherios Venizelos and his era" at Athens International Airport

A special event was organized at the airport by Athens International Airport S.A. and newspaper “TA NEA” on Thursday, October 23 rd, for the presentation of “Eleftherios Venizelos and his era”, a special publication of the paper’s “Historic Library” series. The book, sponsored by Athens International Airport S.A., presents the life, the work and the era of the eminent Greek politician and visionary, who played a prominent role in the historic and social evolution of Greece, and was also the founder of Greek civil aviation.

The key speaker was the former Chairman of the Hellenic Parliament, Mr. Apostolos Kaklamanis. Addresses were made by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Athens International Airport S.A., Professor Costis Vaitsos, the Director of “TA NEA” newspaper, Mr. Pantelis Capsis, the publication’s curator (along with Mr. Elias Nikolakopoulos), Professor Thanos Veremis, and the General Director of the National Research Foundation “Eleftherios K. Venizelos”, Mr. Nikolaos Papadakis.

In the special airport venue where the book presentation was held, the 200 guests also had the opportunity to enjoy a special exhibition of archive photographic and press material, which was kindly set up by “Eleftherios K. Venizelos” National Research Foundation for the special occasion.

Airport visitors can visit at all times the airport’s permanent exhibition “Eleftherios Venizelos at Athens International Airport”, portraying the life and work of the eminent Greek politician ( Main Terminal Building / Entrance 3 / Departures Level). The airport’s permanent exhibition is jointly organized by Athens International Airport S.A. and the National Research Foundation “Eleftherios K. Venizelos”. The bust of Eleftherios Venizelos in the exhibition area, has been kindly donated by Mrs. Electra Th. Vassiliou, in memory of her husband, sculptor Theodore Vassiliou.
