Entry/Exit System (EES) information
As per EU regulation (EU) 2017/2226, the new Entry/Exit System (EES) will start applying to all non-EU nationals entering and leaving the Schengen Zone from October 12, 2025. The system will be gradually introduced to all European countries’ (using the EES) external borders with full implementation by 10 April 2026.
It is an automated IT system for registering non-EU nationals travelling for a short stay (up to 90 days within 180 days), each time they cross the external borders of Schengen Zone countries. It is designed to replace the manual passport stamping process with biometric data, such as facial image and fingerprints by logging digitally who enters & leaves Schengen Zone borders. More details are available here EES-EES Homepage & here EES-FAQs about EES.
