“Aegean Experienced” Unique Images of the Aegean Sea, in a joint collaboration of the Athens International Airport with Aegeanale Platform (4/6 - 30/10/2013)

The Athens International Airport and “Aegeanale” platform of art and culture invite the public to a unique journey of images destined to the Aegean Sea: the new exhibition of photography and video art titled ‘’Aegean Experienced’’, showcases via the unique personal vision and aesthetics of seven artists the Greek archipelago as a field of inspiration and creativity. The outcome of this attempt leads to a multi-perspectival narration where the Aegean “leads” as a destination, as a place of residence, as a concept and feeling.

The exhibition hosts 15 images from the works ‘’Mare Liberum’’ by Yiorgis Yerolymbos, ‘’Caravan Project’’ and ‘’Blind Fisherman’’ by Thekla Malamou and Stratis Vogiatzis‘’Caldera’’ by Dimitris Kleanthis, ‘’Salt’’  by Costas Masseras and «Aegeanscapes» by Socrates Baltagiannis, as also a video trilogy from the Living Postcards series by Emmanouil Papadopoulos.

The new exhibition will be on display daily on a 24hour basis, until October 30th 2013, at the airport’s ‘’Art & Culture’’ exhibition area, located at the Arrivals level (entrance 1, public area).

Aegeanale was created in 2012 as an international platform of art and culture. Its fundamental objectives are to highlight the Aegean as region of inspiration, creativity and intercultural dialogue as well as to map the archipelago as a complex of destinations with cultural interest. Aegeanale’s programme for 2013 includes a series of projects from all disciplines of contemporary art, that periodically travel in different destinations of the Aegean, thus, creating for travellers cultural routes and paths.
