“Fly me to the Moon”
is the joyful and entertaining, cultural “journey” which includes concerts, performances, happenings, interactive competitions and other cultural events by popular music groups and well-known artists, who will be … “landing” at the airport aiming at enhancing the airport experience for passengers’ and visitors.
“Taking off” in May 2013 and through the end of April 2014, the airport’s cooperation with “elculture” will include 3 basic sets of cultural events and interactive projects:
Musicport: Launched in 2012, the airport’s “Musicport” is now back with new artists’ music groups, who will be entertaining passengers and visitors with melody and rhythm. On the occasion of the International Music Day, the “Play me - the Piano Project” (June 19th-22nd), a special festive programme in cooperation with ERA radio Third Programme and the Greek Radio Television (ERT) promises many happenings and “magical moments”.
Perform in Art is about contemporary, theatrical productions based on innovation and creativity. Young artists will be getting their inspiration from the airport environment, inviting passengers to an original theatrical experience!
Shoot_it fest: An annual photography competition for mobile phone or video camera users. The best photos will be awarded with fantastic prizes. Furthermore, a special exhibition will be organized to reward the best photo, while selected scenes from videos will be projected in cinemas. Participations in the “shoot_it fest” will be evaluated by a committee consisting of academics and highly-esteemed photography and cinema professionals.
The Summer schedule of the “Fly me to the Moon” events, beginning on Friday, May 24th:
May 24th & 31st: Vanilla Swing (music & dance concert)
June 19th – 22nd: Play me – the Piano Project (musical events on the occasion of the International Music Day)
July 5th & 12th: The Bet (Music Concert)
All events will take place in the Main Terminal Building, Departures Level, open access area in front of the Food Village.
