The Karlsruhe Museum exhibition_“Europe in Dialogue with antiquity” at the Athens International Airport

(March 16th – 29th, 2015)

During the coming 2 weeks the passengers and the Athens airport visitors will have the opportunity to visit an exhibition of special value and thematic, under the title “Europe in Dialogue with antiquity”, of the Karlsruhe Museum.

“Why get to know the past? How can the knowledge of the ancient world help us to answer questions in the present and future?” With these questions, the new airport exhibition lights the importance of the knowledge of the past, to understand issues in Europe today, such as globalization and migration, marginalization and regionalization. Among the many era of the past, there is one epoch which had particular influence on the Euro-Mediterranean area and thus can be taken as the common denominator for Europe and the Mediterranean area of today: Greco-Roman antiquity.

The exhibition takes the visitor in a journey through the common European cultural inheritage, presenting the common route of cultural exchange and influence between the various peoples, in a venue like the airport, a place where different cultural and ethnic identities mix on an everyday basis.

“Europe in Dialogue with antiquity”, is a periodical exhibition held in cooperation with the German Embassy in Athens. The exhibition is on display until March 29th, at Departures Level (Entrance 4, check-in area 153-157), accessible to all, at a 24-hour basis.
