"Journey to underwater Greece"_The Greek underwater world at the airport, in collaboration with “Ydronaftes”

(13.01.2014 – 30.04.2014)

“Discovering an underwater world that hides inside the beauty of colours,
the succession of landscapes and the miracles of life lying within,
and yet a cry that aims to alert for the dangers threatening the Greek seabed
due to human activity.”

This is the twofold role of the new photo exhibition on display at the airport, under the title “Journey to underwater Greece”.  This new “journey”, a joint initiative by the Athens International Airport and the non-profitable organization “Ydronaftes”, aims to present to the public the beauty of the Greek sea world, uniquely presented through the lens of the amateur divers-photographers; at the same time, this underwater “dive” in a silent but so vivid world of underwater beauty, calls for our alertness, highlighting the great necessity to protect the Greek marine ecosystem.

The exhibition will be on display from Monday, January 13th, till April 30th, 2014, open to all passengers and visitors in the “Art & Environment” Exhibition area (Departures level - Entrance 3 / mezzanine level), open on a 24hour basis.

“Ydronaftes”
The non-profitable organization 'Ydronaftes' was created in 2010 and in reality became the means by which Greek amateur divers could express their gratitude to the sea world for what it offers them during their rambles. Trying to contribute to its protection, they realize environmental and educational volunteering activities all over Greece in a continuous effort to make the society aware of the problems associated with the protection of the environment and also shape ecological conscience.
