Athens International Airport’s 10th anniversary - 10 years of cultural events at the airport
01/04/2011 - 31/12/2011

In order to celebrate its 10 years of operations, AIA created the anniversary programme named “Art and Culture Wishes” which ran at the airport from the beginning of April through the end of December 2011. Sixteen cultural organisations with which AIA had collaborated throughout the years expressed the notion of ”the voyage” through their own identity  realising photographic exhibitions, projections, art banners etc., along with their wishes on the airport’s 10th anniversary. A literary short story competition with the title “Journeys by Air” was also organised in cooperation with the literary magazine “DIAVAZO”, while the National Theatre of Greece with Sophocles’ “Antigone” directed by Takis Tzamargias fascinated  the students of the 2nd grade of the Spata Lyceum who attended the theatrical event.

The cultural organizations participating in Athens International Airport’s anniversary programme were the Foundation of the Hellenic World, the Museum of Greek Folk Art, the Benaki Museum, the Goulandris Natural History Museum, the George Zongolopoulos Foundation, the National Theatre of Greece, the Museum of Greek Children’s Art, the Byzantine and Christian Museum, the Herakleidon Museum, the Museum of the Hellenic Nobel Collection, Militos Editions, the Cycladic Art Museum, the Onassis Cultural Centre, the Β & Μ Theocharakis Foundation for the Fine Arts and Music and the National Geographic Greece.
